Maximising your health with functional medicine

What we do
We work closely with doctors and practitioners who are trained in functional medicine via the IFM (Institute for Functional Medicine) to help you work through their recommended plan to deal with your unique needs. Whether you are suffering with a chronic condition, have sub-optimal health or are in good health and seeking to maintain it, we can help you to achieve the lifestyle changes that will ensure you live your best life in your best health.

How we can help you

What is functional medicine?
Functional medicine (FM) involves focusing on the root cause(s) of illness, disease or suboptimal functioning. All chronic conditions are caused by one or more physiological imbalance(s) in the body, which in turn leads to inflammation. An individual’s unique genetics, diet, environment and lifestyle will determine where the inflammation occurs and what symptoms will manifest as a result.
Whilst conventional medicine deals with the symptoms of chronic disease, functional medicine deals with the underlying causes. Once these causes are identified we can help you work through the changes prescribed by your IFM practitioner in order to help you reach your optimal health.

What does a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach do?
Functional Medicine certified Health Coaches (FMCHC) are trained in behaviour change, specifically in relation to the modifiable lifestyle factors of sleep and relaxation, stress, nutrition, relationships and exercise and movement. Altering these behaviours can lead to dramatic and lasting improvements in health and wellness. Our job is to help you implement the changes you desire in these areas through coaching, so facilitating your maximum health and optimal wellbeing. The process will involve focusing on your individual strengths and will be tailored to you and your needs. The process will always be undertaken at a pace you are completely comfortable with.

How we work with you
Typically you will start the journey to maximising your health via a consultation with an IFM-accredited doctor or health professional, who will prescribe for you a unique plan tailored to your own specific needs and goals. Unlike conventional medicine, where a prescription may involve a trip to a pharmacy and then regular consumption of pharmaceuticals, a functional medicine prescription is likely to involve making significant changes that may be challenging to implement. Our role is to help guide and encourage you through applying these changes.
This takes place via a series of coaching sessions, which start with an initial 6-session bundle designed to provide the best possible start to your journey of health improvement. This begins with a foundation session where we explore your character strengths and long term aspirations, and is followed by five shorter sessions where together we discuss and plan achievable short term goals whilst always keeping the bigger, overall picture in mind. The timing and frequency of each session will always be tailored to your preferred requirements and convenience. For current pricing and any other questions please contact us via the chat or email.

Kate Kellner BSc FMCHC

I came to Functional Medicine during a tough menopause through researching natural methods to ease my symptoms. FM has become one of the key tools I use to live my best life. In my fifties I feel the most well since my teenage years. Having been on this journey and seen and experienced the results personally I love helping others achieve their maximum health and wellness too.
I live on the Wirral Peninsula, England, and am married with 3 grown-up children. I have a degree in physiology and am a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach.
Sophie Greaves MA (Cantab) PGCE FMCHC

Born and raised on Wirral, I studied French and Spanish at the University of Cambridge before completing teaching training at the University of Exeter. I moved back north in 2018 and have spent the past 6 years teaching in a high school in a deprived area of Liverpool.

I was inspired to train as a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach after seeing my mum (Kate) successfully navigate a tough menopause through lifestyle modifications. I have since become a passionate advocate of holistic medicine and have alleviated my long-term asthma symptoms by implementing dietary changes. I am married to Joel and live on Wirral.
